Insect Spreading
I was first introduced to the process of insect pinning during my time with Alessandra Dzuba at Oracle Natural Science. I learned how to carefully rehydrate specimens, and then slowly work with them to return them to a more lifelike form. I fell in love with both the craft and the process of it, and it has taught me a lot about slowing down and gave me what I like best: an opportunity to work with my hands directly in nature. Here is a collection documenting projects with insects both past and present: my way of giving you a peek inside one of my favorite hobbies.
